Fonds consists of minute books, 1810-1860, 1876-1969, 70 cm; correspondence, 1822-1906, 1968-1973, 30 cm-; annual reports, 1838-1850, 15 cm; financial records, 1822-1904, 1958-1974, 32 cm; papers concerning dinners and receptions, 1872-1977, 20 cm; J.G. Colmer research materials, 1933-1935, 17 cm; and scrapbook and yearbook, 1946-1960, 10 cm. Microfilmed material includes: minute books, 1810-1869, 1876-1961, scrapbooks, 1948-1960, correspondence, 1822-1972, receipts and vouchers, 1822-1900, annual reports, statements and accounts, 1838-1972, members' attendance registers and other records of the Canada Club, 1817-1977, microfilm reels A-521 to A-524, A-1505 to A-1516.

Also included are photographs and a sound recording of a speech by Prime Minister of Canada, John Diefenbaker, at a Canada Club meeting at the Savoy Hotel, London, July 1, 1957.

Canada Club (London, England) : The Canada Club was founded on a permanent basis in London, England, at a meeting held at the Freemasons' Tavern, 20 October 1810. The club had its origins in the Beaver Club which was founded in 1785 by Montreal fur traders of the North West Company. The aim of the Canada Club was to promote Canadian interests and its membership was at first restricted to Canadians but soon extended to include gentlemen who had lived in Canada or who had business connections in Canada. The original members were chiefly fur traders but membership soon included those prominent in finance and politics. In 1960, the club celebrated its 150th anniversary, on which occasion it was addressed by the Duke of Edinburgh.
