Fonds consists of papers relating to the various interests of the Wright and Cambridge, families consisting of genealogical notes pp. 1-43, and an agreement between Thomas Wright and other heirs of Mary Davis, 1778, pp. 5-16; a letterbook kept by Mary Cambridge, 1811-1812, of letters to her husband John Cambridge, concerning their business and land interests, and political affairs of the island, pp. 17-114; copy of the London Gazette, 27 August 1816, with an announcement of the dissolution of the partnership between John and his son Lemuel Cambridge dated 27 August 1816, pp. 115-138. The papers also included the marriage licence of Charles Wright and Lydia Cambridge, 1815, pp. 139-140 and an agreement between John Cambridge and Charles and Lydia Wright concerning lot or township 63, 1824, pp. 141-153; memorial of Charles Wright Jr. to Earl Grey, 1846, for recompense for services rendered by his family pp. 154-160 and letter of Charles Wright, Jr. to the dowager Countess of Westmorland, for employment, 1847, pp. 161-164, letterbook kept by Charles Wright, Jr., 1847-1850, the letters beign addressed in general to residents of London and concerned with the political affairs of the Island and business, pp. 165-256.

Wright, Charles, d. 1828 : Charles Wright, public servant, was the son of Thomas Wright, Surveyor General of Prince Edward Island from 1773 until his death in 1812, when Charles succeeded to the post. Charles Wright married Lydia, daughter of John Cambridge, a Bristol merchant with very extensive interests in the timber trade and shipbuilding on the island, as well as in land. On his death, his brother George (ca. 1780-1842) held the position of Surveyor General, as well as a seat in the Council. Charles' and Lydia's son, Charles Wright, Jr. (fl. 1840-1850) made several attempts to obtain appointment to the surveyorship, while occupying himself as an agent.
