Fonds consists of correspondence, business agreements, records of the arbitration of business debts and related papers accumulated by Amos McKenny, in his distilling and printing ventures, among others. Included are three letters from John Clark on political affairs, 1821-1823, and a letter to H.N. McKenny regarding coal fields and mines, 1857.

McKenny, Amos, fl. 1777-1824 : Amos McKenny (fl. 1777-1824) a native of New York, served with the Loyalist forces during the American Revolution and spent some time as a prisoner of war. In 1784, he settled in Niagara Township with his family. He later became a merchant and notary public and was involved in distilling and printing. Encouraged by William Hamilton Merritt and others, he moved the press and types for the Spectator from St. David's to St. Catharines in 1816.
