Collection consists of correspondence of Professor James Williamson relating to the acquisition of equipment for the Observatory at Kingston, transcript, 1855-1887, 32 pages; letter from Sir John A. Macdonald to an unknown member of Parliament requesting his aid in obtaining a grant of land for Queen's University, photocopy, 3 May 1848, 2 pages.

Also included in collection are sound recordings documenting speeches by John Buchan, lectures given at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario by author Juliet Mitchell, literary critic and author Elizabeth and 21 paper tapes documenting interviews by W.E. McNeil.

Collection also consists of a documentary film entitled Celebrating Greek language and culture: A tile in Canada's cultural mosaic, produced by Queen's University in 1997.

Queen's University (Kingston, Ont.) : Queen's University was established in 1841. Originally named Queen's College, the institution began as a small theological school established by the Presbyterian Church. Intended primarily as a training college for young men in the ministry, the school eventually severed denominational ties and was renamed Queen's University in 1912. Today Queen's offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in programs from 20 faculties and schools. As of 2001, it had 15,185 full-time undergraduate and graduate students.
