Pegasus which was kept during a cruise from Plymouth, England to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, dated March to November 1786. It is illustrated by some sixty-one watercolour and pen-and-ink views and maps of the coasts and harbours visited.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Pegasus (Ship) : The H.M.S. Pegasus was under the command of H.R.H. Prince William Henry (1765-1837, ruled as William IV 1830-1837) during 1786 and 1787. Prince William Henry had entered the Royal Navy in 1779 as a midshipman and was promoted lieutenant, 1785, and captain, 1786. The logbook was illustrated by J.S. Meres.Information additionnelle :Note générale :The illustrations were included in the Archives Canada Microfiches (#4) series and have been provided with a catalogue containing the artist's biography, a bibliography and a detailed descriptive entry for each item.
