Collection consists of street railway scrapbooks, 1890-1917, which contain newspaper and magazine articles with regard to street railway operations in Ottawa and activities of the Ottawa City Passenger Railway Company, the Ottawa Electric Railway Company and the Ottawa Electric Street Railway Company. The scrapbooks also contain information and notices to shareholders concerning the Ottawa Car Company Ltd., and the Ottawa Porcelain and Carbon Company Limited. This material was microfilmed in 1984 and is located on microfilm reels M-7478 and M-7479.

Ottawa Electric Railway Company : The Ottawa Electric Railway Company was founded in 1893 with the amalgamation of the Ottawa City Passenger Railway Company and the Ottawa Electric Street Railway Company. The Company continued operation until it was eventually taken over by the regional municipality and its services operated under the name O-C Transpo. The Ottawa Car Company Limited was founded to manufacture cars for street railway operations and its activities continued until after the Second World War. The Company was associated with the Ottawa Electric Railway Company. Another associated company was the Ottawa Porcelain and Carbon Company which apparently failed before 1900.
