Mary Round lived at Colchester, England. She assembled a collection of franks (excised from postal covers) and other autographs (excised from documents) by pasting them, four or five to a page, into two albums. These are designated as file 1 and file 2. The first album (pages 1-177), bearing the internal title, "Autographs of the Royal Family & Peers of the United Kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland", shows evidence of arrangement by rank, terminating with bishops. The second album (pages 1-155), bearing the internal title, "Autographs of Members of Parliament", exhibits a more random placement of the franks. It includes a number of senior civil servants; MP's are identified by full name and riding. The vast majority of postal markings are dated 1812-1813, the chronological range extending from 1786-1821, with one item of 1834. Mary Round added brief biographical notes to identify many signatures and franks, but some pencilled notations are clearly not in her hand.

General note:

Acquired in in 1972 from B. Antmann of Montreal. In volume 1, pages 38-40, 46-48 and 69-70, as well as 78-124 are blank. Note the loose frank found between 69 and 70. The frank of Lord Byron has been torn off page 49. The 1834 postal cover and a letter to a Mr. Round were inserted at pages154-155 of volume 2.
