Item is a microfilmed journal kept by Edward Coat of the siege of Quebec. Its full title is: 'A Private Journal of the Siege of Quebec with a Description of the Town Commencing the 16th of February 1759 (being the Day of our departure from England) and ending the 18th of September following the Day of Capitulation of the Town'. It is located on microfilm reel A-1221 and contains 22 pages.

Item consists of a fair copy of the journal kept by Edward Coat, dated February to September 1759, 22 pages, recording the siege of Quebec including an account of the strategic setting at Quebec; a daily description of troop and vessel movements and, at irregular intervals, numbers of casualties; the articles of capitulation; and a list of the British ships deployed under Vice-Admiral Saunders, with a notation regarding the ships' commanders and number of guns.
