Fort Ellice : Fort Ellice, named after Edward Ellice (British MP and investor in the Hudson's Bay Company) was built in 1831 as a HBC trading post in Manitoba. It was situated on Beaver Creek near the Assiniboine and Qu'Appelle Rivers. It was discontinued in 1870 after the Deed of Surrender transferred Rupert's Land and many HBC rights to the new Canadian government.
