Fonds consists of two letters relating to Rev. Egerton Ryerson Young's offer to mediate in the dispute with Indians in the North West in 1885: one from Sir S.L. Tilley to Rev. Young, 30 March 1885, and one from Sir John A. Macdonald to D. Potts, 31 March 1885.

Young, Egerton Ryerson, 1840-1909 : Egerton Ryerson Young was born in Bradford, Ontario and educated at the Provincial Normal School, teaching until his ordination into the Methodist church in 1868. He worked as a missionary in the North West from 1868 to 1876, and served in various charges in Ontario until 1888 when he retired to devote his time to writing books and stories based upon his western adventures.
