Fonds consists of two letters written by Pte. Ward of "H" Company 2nd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, one dated November 1899 describing the voyage to South Africa on board the S.S. Sardinian and the other dated 29 January 1900 at Belmont Camp, South Africa describing recent activities of "H" Company; Ward's discharge certificate, 1900; South African War Grant papers, 1908-1909; menus from various Paaderberg Day anniversary dinners 1902-1904; New Year's Day greeting card, 1905; discharge certificate from the 66th Regiment Princess Louise Fusiliers, 1916; souvenir booklets of the Halifax Masonic Order, 1902-1912; programme for the Halifax public schools celebration of Queen Victoria's Jubilee, June 1887; receipt of John Ward, for a burial plot in the city cemetery of Halifax, 1876. Originals, 78 pages.

Ward, Edward Burrough, 1874-1952 : Soldier

Edward B. Ward was employed with the Halifax School Commission prior to joining the First Canadian Contingent in November 1899. He served with "H" Company, 2nd Special Service Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment in South Africa. In 1902 Ward was chosen to represent the 66th Regiment, Princess Louise Fusiliers, at the coronation of Edward VII.
