Fonds consists of correspondence between members of the Sibbald family, 1852-1881. The letters are mainly concerned with family matters but there are references to Bishop Strachan, Sir John Berverly Robinson, the Fenian Raids, Confederation, the Pacific Scandal and western Canada.

Sibbald, Susan (family) : William and Charles Sibbald emigrated from England to Canada in 1833. Their recently-widowed mother Susan Sibbald (1783-1866), followed them in 1835 and settled on an estate on the shore of Lake Simcoe. Other members of the family joined her at "Georgina" including another son, Captain Thomas Sibbald, who retired from the Royal Navy in 1858, and a daughter, Ann Ritchie, who had married an Anglican clergyman. Susan Sibbald was a close friend of Bishop John Strachan and of Sir John Beverly Robinson, Chief Justice of Upper Canada.
