Fonds consists of pioneer reminiscences of T.P. Wicks, describing his travels on Vancouver Island, 1882-1887, and his life among Indians on the island. Fonds also includes an account of an early nineteenth century journey from Montreal to Astoria entitled, "The Story of Alex-See of Suquash, B.C.", and correspondence, 1939-1940, between T.P. Wicks and J.S. Matthews, City of Vancouver Archivist, which describes Wicks' past experiences.

Fonds also includes copies of several photographs, 1845-1945.

Wicks, Thomas Prentis, 1868-1949 : Thomas P. Wicks, also known as Skookum Tom, went to Black Sand Beach, Vancouver Island, in 1882 to prospect for flake gold. Unsuccessful at prospecting, he moved to Balaclava Island and later to Alert Bay, B.C., where he worked on occasion as lumberman and fur trader.

Received in 1941 from T.P. Wicks of East Wellingon, B.C. Typescript compiled and prepared by Margaut Giles, City Archives, Vancouver, B.C. The photographs were loaned to the National Archives of Canada, copied, and returned to the lender.
