The fonds also contains a photograph of the Sixth Convention of Polish Alliance of Canada, Toronto, Ont., 1934.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Nedza, Michal, 1900- : Michal Nedza, community leader, was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1927. He was very active in the Polish Canadian community and an influential figure in the Polish Alliance Friendly Society of Canada between 1928 and 1937. In 1933 he helped launch Zwiazkowiec, the official organ of the Alliance. In 1937 he and other leaders founded the Polish National Union of Canada. In addition he played a key role in the publishing of the newspaper, Glos Polski.
Nedza was also among those instrumental in transforming the Federation of Polish Societies (est. 1931) into the Canadian Polish Congress, which was to be a coordinating body of most Polish Canadian associations. He chaired the founding convention of the Congress held in May 1944 in Toronto.
