Fonds consists of a passport issued by Consulate General of Finland to Mr. Viita, 1937; certificates concerning landed immigrant status, citizenship and employment, 1937, 1951, 1952; personal correspondence, n.d., 1936, 1941; correspondence concerning the Canada-Finland Aid Society Fund, Val d'Or donations, n.d., 1946; correspondence concerning the family's activities in the Finnish community, n.d., 1940, 1950; pages from the family guest book, 1946-1958; newspaper clippings of family obituary notices, and of other subjects, n.d., 1947-1950.

The fonds also contains photographs relating to Finnish immigration, work, and settlement in the Val d'Or, Quebec region and a Presbyterian church in Val d'Or, 1925-1951.

Viita (family) : Mr. and Mrs. Väinö Eerikki Isoviita (later called Viita) first came to Canada prior to the mid-1930's. They appear to have lived for some time in Montreal before making a visit to Finland in 1937. Upon their return to Canada, the Viita family settles in the Val d'Or region of Quebec where Mr. Viita worked in the mining industry.
