Fonds consists of textual records including transcripts of interviews concerning labour and radical movements in Western Canada, 1969; photocopies of interview transcripts with Professor Jacob Finkelman, ca. 1973; and research materials concerning the Winnipeg General Strike, 1918-1919, 1955, 1965-1969.

Fonds also includes photographs of the Winnipeg General Strike, 1919 and of personalities involved in it; and views of Western Canada especially illustrative of Canadian labour history. Photos have been divided into a media specific series entitled Photographs.

Fonds also consists of sound recordings of interviews conducted by Millar with fisherman and citizens of Lunenburg for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB); and interviews conducted by Millar about labour and social history in Western Canada from 1900-1920. Labour and social history interviews have been incorporated into a multiple media series entitled Labour and social history interviews. Interviews by Millar for the NFB have been divided into a series entitled Interviews on the life of Lunenburg fishermen. Also included in fonds are interviews of Dr. Eugene Forsey, Professor of Political Science, by Millar, recorded in Ottawa between 25 June and 9 July 1970.

Millar, David, 1936- : F. David Millar was born in 1936 at Toronto, Ontario. Millar holds a B.A. (Honours English) King's College, Dalhousie University, 1956; a M.A. (Canadian Studies) Carleton University, 1970; a M.L.I.S. Dalhousie University, 1987; and a Ph.D. (Canadian History) York University, 1981. From 1960-1969 he was employed by the National Film Board as a film and video maker. Millar has carried out numerous oral history projects across Canada and has authored various publications on Canadian labour history.
