Fonds consists of memoirs of Bark Lake by C. Lay Reeve describing early transportation, lumbering, first homes, settlers, disasters such as floods and tornadoes, social life 1919-1930's, fishing and wildlife, and covering the period 1905-1976. The memoirs entitled "Memoirs of Bark Lake and What It Has Taught Me" are available both in typescript and in the form of handwritten notes. The notes differ to a certain extent from the final typescript.

Reeve, C. Lay, b. 1895 : Mr. Reeve, real estate agent, lived in Outremont and attended St. John's school, a forerunner of Lower Canada College. His father built a house at Bark Lake in 1909, where they spent the summer and parts of the winters. The lake, also known as Lac des Ecorces, is located in the Cantons of Montcalm and Arundel in Argenteuil County.

Lay Reeve served in W.W. I until July 1917, when he was wounded and discharged from active service. Mr. Reeve worked for the Sun Life Insurance Company as a real estate agent for many years.
