Fonds consists of diaries kept intermittently for the period 1899-1927; correspondence, 1890-1954; manuscripts and notes for speeches and short stories; O'Hara family notes and clippings; items relating to the Dominion Drama Festival, 1906-1912, and to the Ottawa Drama League, 1902-1919; and scrapbook of O'Hara's tour of South America, 1927. This material is located on microfilm reel M-782.

O'Hara, Francis Charles Trench, 1870-1954 : Francis Charles Trench O'Hara, born in 1870 at Chatham, Ontario, studied at the Berlitz School of Languages, Baltimore, Maryland. He began his career in the Canadian Bank of Commerce in 1888, turned to journalism in 1891, and in 1896 became private secretary to his cousin, Sir Richard Cartwright, then Minister of Trade and Commerce. In 1908, O'Hara was appointed Deputy Minister of Trade and Commerce and held this position until his retirement in 1931. O'Hara served as chairman of the Canadian Trade Commission in 1920 and as Canadian Government delegate to the first Pan-Pacific Commercial Conference held at Honolulu in 1922. He also made an extensive tour of Latin America in 1927, in the interests of Canadian Trade.
