Fonds consists of Frederick Montizambert correspondence, commissions, clippings, notes and souvenirs, 1869-1929, photocopy, 21 pages (vol. 1); William Walker estate consisting of legal and financial documents, 1829-1929, (volume 1-2); Edward Louis Montizambert papers consisting of a bound volume containing notes on legal matters, 1829-1844, (volume 3); and Montizambert family papers including genealogical notes family trees and clippings on the history of the family 1848-1971, original, photocopy, 56 pages, (volume 3).

The fonds also contains a photograph of Montizambert, [ca. 1900].

Biography/Administrative history:

Montizambert, Edward Louis (family) : Frederick Montizambert (1843-1929), the son of Edward Louis Montizambert (1811-1882), clerk of the Legislative Council, married in 1865 Mary Jane Walker, daughter of William Walker (1793-1863). William Walker was a partner of Forsyth, Walker and Co., a member of the Special Council of Lower Canada in 1838, and a Legislative Councillor in 1842. Frederick Montizambert, educated at Laval, Edinburgh (M.D. 1864), and at John Hopkins University, entered the Public Service of Canada in 1866 and became director of Public Health in 1899. On the creation of the Department of Health in 1919 he retired.
