Fonds consists of photographic material depicting: portraits of Mr. Justice Patrick Kerwin; brass band at Sarnia, Ontario, Patrick Kerwin, clarinet; Mr. Justice Patrick Kerwin at the St. Mary's Hospital Ball, Montréal, Québec. Medallic items consists of a George V Jubilee medal and miniature; George VI Coronation medal and miniature; Lady's Bow pin and minature. Textual material consists of newspaper clippings concerning Judge Kerwin's career, a speech delivered at Harvard University on the occasion of John Marshall's 200th anniversary, and seventeen speeches delivered at numerous Canadian and American settings dealing with the history of the law in Canada.

Also included are medallic items: George V Jubilee medal and miniature; George VI Coronation medal and miniature; Lady's Bow pin and minature.

The fonds also contains textual material: newspaper clippings concerning Judge Kerwin's career, a speech delivered at Harvard University on the occasion of John Marshall's 200th anniversary, and seventeen speeches delivered at numerous Canadian and American settings dealing with the history of the law in Canada.

Kerwin, Patrick, 1889- : Patrick Kerwin, judge, was born in 1889 at Sarnia, Ont., and attended Sarnia Collegiate and Osgoode Hall. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1911 and practised law in Guelph, Ont. For many years he was Solicitor for the City of Guelph and the County of Wellington.

He was appointed to the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1932, served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1935 to 1954, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1954 to 1963.
