Fonds consists of Royal Canadian Air Force Weekly orders photocopies 1924; correspondence, memoranda, sketch and photograph regarding the R.C.A.F. ensign and miscellaneous correspondence, service records, pamphlets, and programmes, originals, ca. 1933-1949.

The fonds also contains photographs depicting the activities of Air Vice Marshal G.V. Walsh as Air Member, Canadian Joint Staff, Washington, D.C., 1942-1944; group photo of British and Canadian officers studying at the Imperial Defence College, Camberley, England, 1929, photo by Frederic Robinson.

The fonds also contains a World War One recruiting poster from the 24th Battalion, C.E.F., Montreal, Que.

Walsh, G.V. (George Victor), 1893-1960 : Born in England, George Victor Walsh came to Canada at age eleven, and was educated at Loyola College, Montreal. During W.W.I, he went overseas with the 24th Battalion as a lieutenant in April 1915. He then served with the 5th Canadian Trench Mortar Brigade, and was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps in November 1916. After the war, he served with the 3rd Canadian Regiment until 1920, when he became a flight lieutenant with the Canadian Air Force.

Between the wars, he commanded the Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba base, and the High River, Alberta station. Walsh was appointed acting member of the Air Council for Air Staff in 1939; and early in W.W.II was sent overseas as Commander of the Overseas Headquarters, R.C.A.F. In March 1941, he was appointed commanding officer of a training command in Montreal. In 1942, Air Vice Marshall Walsh was made Air Attache at the Canadian Legation in Washington, and then Air Member, Joint Canadian Staff. He was created a Companion, Order of Bath in 1946.
