Matthews from Canadian artists and other prominent figures relating to Sampson-Matthews Ltd., the Arts and Letters Clubs, Toronto, and art in general, as well as other subjects, 1922-1975, volume 1. The fonds also contains additional material, relating to Matthews' life and career, 1903-1974, volumes 1-2.
Also included are photographs of members of the Group of Seven at Arts and Letters Club, Toronto, Ont., 1920; and portraits of Dr. Frederick Banting, Frank Carmichael, and C.A.G. Matthews, ca. 1920.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Matthews, Charles Andrew Graham, b. 1890 : Charles Matthews was a partner in the art printing firm of Sampson - Matthews Ltd., established in Toronto in 1918. The firm employed a number of Canadian artists throughout its existence, including A.J. Casson, Frank Carmichael and Thoreau MacDonald, and it reproduced the work of most major Canadian artists. Matthews has been a close, personal friend of many artists and others in the arts world.
