Dyde, Dorothy Reynolds : Dorothy Dyde was born Dorothy Reynolds Pound, daughter of A.M. Pound, Vancouver, B.C. In 1933, she married Alan B. Plaunt (1904-1941). He, along with Graham Spry, formed the Canadian Radio League in Ottawa, in 1930. He also belonged to the League for Social Reconstruction and to the C.C.F., during the 1930s. Alan Plaunt died in 1941.

Dorothy Plaunt married Henry Alexander Dyde, prominent Alberta lawyer, in 1949. She contributed money to worthy causes during the 1950s. For example, she contributed money to the Canada Foundation to be used for a project undertaken by Jean-Paul Falardeau, F.R. Scott, Pierre E. Trudeau and others, and to the asbestos strike. Mrs. Dyde then concentrated her support on the arts in Edmonton, Alta.
