Fonds consists of biographical notes, family documentation, correspondence with individuals and organizations, speeches, articles and reviews, projects and miscellaneous material relating to Mr. Frolick's life and activities in the Ukrainian Canadian community. Also included is the Dmytro Dontsov-Paul Shteppa correspondence.

The fonds also includes photographs related to Frolick's life and activities, including his involvement with various Ukrainian groups and organizations, 1917-1985; and a sound recording of proceedings of the Ukrainian Canadian Committee Toronto Branch, concerning Prime Minister Trudeau's equating of Ukrainian dissidents in the U.S.S.R. with F.L.Q. separatists in Quebec, 1971.

Frolick, Stanley, 1920-1988 : Stanley William Frolick was born in Hillcrest, Alberta on July 7, 1920, the son of Ukrainian immigrant parents. As a youth he was sent by his father to study in Halychyna (western Ukraine) in 1932 and he remained there until the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. In 1940-1941 he studied at the University of Lviv. As a British subject, he was able to travel across the SovietStanley William Frolick was born in Hillcrest, Alberta on July 7, 1920, the son of Ukrainian immigrant parents. In 1940-1941 he studied at the University of Lviv. As a British subject, he was able to travel across the Soviet Union to Japan and then to Canada in 1941. He attended the University of Toronto and was National President of the Ukrainian National Youth Federation of Canada in 1943-1944. In 1944 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served in England and Europe with the Allied Control Commission where he held the rank of Captain in 1944-1945. He was a co-founder of the Federation of Ukrainians in Great Britain in 1946 and also a director of the Central Ukrainian Relief Bureau in England. Upon his return to Canada, he was the founder of the Canadian League for the Liberation of Ukraine. He married Gloria Kupchenko in 1947. He continued his studies at the University of Toronto and graduated from the Osgoode Law School in 1958. He began his own law practice and maintained his involvement in the Ukrainian Canadian community at the local and national levels. He was National President of the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Federation in 1971-1973. He was also involved in the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies in 1975-76. He was an active member of the Progressive Conservative Party and was a candidate in a few elections. He was appointed to a number of positions in the Ontario provincial government. Stanley Frolick died on June 4, 1988.

General note:

Received in 1973, 1974, 1979, 1982, 1986 and 1991 from Mr.S.W.Frolick and his estate. Photocopies made in 1974 by S.W. Frolick of Toronto. Two containers of material were acquired from the Multicultural History Society of Ontario in Toronto on April 3, 1990.

Language note:

Approximately 15 percent of material is in Ukrainian and the rest in English.
