Fonds includes correspondence and reports relating to the German Canadian Mardi Gras Association, 1958-1968; correspondence and related material pertaining to the German-Canadian Choir Association, 1967-1968; minutes of meetings and related material pertaining to the deliberations of the German Canadian Centennial Committee, Hamilton, 1966-1967; clippings, 1965-1971, and copies of clippings, 1975, relating to the Peninsular Saengerfest in 1891 and German social life in the Hamilton area from the 1800's to the 1970's; as well as programs and other material collected or retained by Eugen Rapp on the activities of different German social organizations in Hamilton and area, 1959-1991.

Rapp, Eugen, 1925-2019 : Eugen Rapp came to Canada from Germany in 1951. He settled in Hamilton, Ontario, where he became active in German Canadian social life, participating in such organizations as the Hamilton Germania Club as well as local choir and "Karneval" associations. An amateur historian, he founded the Germania Historical Society in 1968, to encourage research into German Canadian history. His own research concentrated on Germans in Hamilton and area.

Eugen Rapp passed away in 2019.

Copies in the fonds were prepared in 1975 from originals loaned from Mr. Eugen Rapp of Hamilton, Ontario. Original material was received from him in 1993.
