Fonds consists of the papers of Georgina Simpson Ross, 1889-1918; A. Carlyle Roy, 1917-1919; William Roy, 1867, 1893; and Lucy Simpson [ca. 1950].

Fonds also consists of photographic material such as portraits, official British Government photographs, and picture postcards.

Also included is philatelic material consisting of postally-used military covers and pre-stamped postcards.

Roy, William (family) : Georgina Simpson Ross (Mrs. A.C. Roy) was born in 1891 at the Manor House, Beaurivage, Que. She received her education in Montreal, England, Nova Scotia and at Macdonald College, where she took a short domestic science course. From the spring of 1915 to 1918 she served as a volunteer at French hospitals in Cannes and Meaux. At Meaux, she was in charge of the canteen. Since returning to Canada at the end of the war, she has lived in Montreal.

Roy A. Carlyle born in 1879 at Montreal, Que., the son of William Roy, was educated in Montreal, Paris and McGill University where he studied chemistry. He enlisted in the Militia as part of the McGill draft into the 10th Siege Battery and served as a Gunner in France, 1917-1918. After the war, he worked on the Ross Seigneurie at St-Giles de Beaurivage, at the Henry Ford Motor Company at Iron Mountain, Michigan, in lumber and at a research laboratory. From 1927 to the end of his life, he worked in horticulture in Montreal.

Photocopies of ten of the postal covers are in the acquisition file.
A 1915 passport has been placed in horizontal storage.
Some photographs and the philatelic material was received between 1982 and 1984 from Mrs. A. Carlyle Roy, Pointe Claire, Québec.
