Lloyd George, David, 1863-1945 : David Lloyd George was admitted as a solicitor in 1884. He was a member of the United Kingdom House of Commons from 1890 to 1945. During this period he was chancellor of the exchequer, 1908-1915, minister of munitions, 1915-1916, secretary of state for war, 1916, prime minister and first lord of the treasury, 1916-1922, leader of the Liberal party, 1926-1931 and of the Independent Liberal group, 1931-1935, and father of the House of Commons, 1929-1945.
