Fonds consists of one scrapbook, two photo albums, one studio portrait and two pictorials of Japan, relating to Margaret Elizabeth Graham's tour of Japan at the request of the Japanese Board of Tourist Industry, volumes 1-2. Studio portrait by Harumi Studio, Kyoto, depicts a group of Canadian and American school teachers and Japanese at the Villa "Seiryu-So", Kyoto, Japan, November 9, 1937.

Gordon, Margaret Elizabeth, 1905-1962 : Margaret Elizabeth Gordon, teacher, was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and was educated at private schools in Victoria and Toronto. After receiving her Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto, 1928, she stayed on to read in Modern Languages. She obtained High School Teachers' Certificates in Ontario, 1929, and later in British Columbia, where she also did graduate work at the University of British Columbia in the Department of English. She also studied drama and dance in Paris and New York.

While teaching at MacLean High School in Maple Ridge, B.C., she studied the Japanese language, to better deal with some of her students, of whom one-third were of Japanese origin. She was the only Canadian high school teacher who accompanied a group of American women high school teachers on a tour of Japan at the request of the Japanese government in 1937. She later became head of the English Department in the B.C. Normal School, and continued with extracurricular activities in amateur theatre and summer youth camps. She married the Rev. Llewellyn Charles Edward Graham.
