Fonds consists of a letter from the Hon. Alexander Campbell, Minister of Justice, enclosing a list of federal statutes which were made applicable to the provinces of Manitoba and British Columbia, original, 1873, 15 pages; diary, presumably kept by Richardson, recording a journey from Edmonton to Chipewyan, on Lake Athabasca, made for the purpose of paying treaty money to the Indians under the terms of Treaty No. 8, transcript, 1902, 32 pages.

Richardson, Hugh, 1826-1913 : Hugh Richardson, born in London, England, became a barrister, 1847, and practisd law in Woodstock, Ont. He served as County Attorney, Oxford, Ont., 1856-1862, as chief clerk in the Department of Justice, 1827-1876, legal adviser to the Lieutenant-Govenor of the North-West Territories and administrator, 1876-1887. He was appointed a senior judge of the Supreme Court, North-West Territories, 1887, and retired in 1901.
