Quart, Josie Dinan, 1895-1980 : Josie Dinan Quart, born in 1895 at Quebec City, Que., received her education from St. Lewis Academy, Quebec, and New England Conservatory, Boston, Mass. Married in 1916, Josie Quart spent a life time working with many volunteer political and charitable, and women's organizations, provincially, federally, and internationally. She received a number of awards including, the George and Mary Medal for community service, 1935, the Order of the British Empire for her War work, 1944, The Centennial Medal, 1967, and The Coronation Medal, 1977.

In 1960, Josie Quart was appointed to the Senate. A life-time Conservative, some of her activities included the Canadian delegation to the United Nations, 1957, representative on the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women in Geneva in 1958, in New York in 1959, and in Buenos Aires in 1960. On frequent occasions, she was representative to the various Commonwealth Parliamentarians' Conferences. She was founder of the United Nations Association for Quebec and was on the executive of a host of women's, business, and charitable associations.
