Fonds consists of correspondence, memoranda, subject and reference files relating to Mr. Nesbitt's career as a Member of Parliament, on such subjects as Canadian Defence Policy, employment, External Affairs and National Defence Committee, Indians, N.O.R.A.D. Progressive Conservative Party Caucus Policy, St. Lawrence Seaway, Tobacco Board, United Nations and Young Offenders Act.

The fonds also contains photographs depicting activities relating to Wallace Nesbitt's political career as Member of Parliament: Trade & Commerce Timber Mission to Europe, 1962; receiving the distinction of honorary Ojibway Chief, 1965; External Affairs & Defence Committee visit to Europe, 1969. Some photographs are by Vince Farr, Ontario and Shape Photo.

Nesbitt, Wallace B. (Wallace Beckford), 1918-1974 : Wallace Bickford Nesbitt, lawyer and Member of Parliament, born in 1918 at Woodstock, Ont., received his education from the University of Western Ontario and Osgoode Law School. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy, 1941-1945 and retired as Lieutenant-Commander.

He was a Member of Parliament, representing Oxford North, Ont., from 1953 until his death in 1973. He became parliamentary assistant to the Prime Minister, 19 August 1957, was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Canadian Delegation to the United Nations, 11 September 1957, served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Secretary of State for External Affairs, 22 January 1958, and was Chairman of the Canadian Delegation to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations at Geneva, 2 July 1958. He was elected a member of the National Executive, the United Nations Association in Canada, May 1959.
