Hunt, L. A. C. O. (Leonard Arthur Charles Orgar), 1909-1978 : Leonard Arthur Charles Orgar Hunt, also known as LACO Hunt, public servant and administrator, immigrated to Canada in 1928 and apprenticed with the Hudson's Bay Company. He first worked at a number of posts in Quebec, such as Bersimis and Romaine, and then in the Western Arctic at Fort Chipewayon and Fort Simpson until 1939 when he went to Ceylon. He joined the Ceylon Defence Force in 1941 and then transferred to the Canadian Army in England as a Major in 1943.

From 1946 to 1950 Hunt served as Chief of Personnel of the Dominion Bureau of Statistics. In 1950 he became a magistrate and administrator in the Northwest Territories at Aklavik and then served at Fort Smith until 1956. He was Assistant Director of Northern Administration, Department of Indian and Northern Affairs from 1957 to 1960. From 1960 to 1967 he was loaned to the United Nations as an administrative expert in Laos from 1960 to 1962 and Iran from 1962 to 1967. He then held the post of Executive Secretary to the Advisory Committee, Department on Northern Development from 1967 to 1974. He was also chief of the Northern Co-ordination Division from 1968.

Hunt's autobiography, "Rebels, Rascals and Royalty: The Colourful North of LACO Hunt," was edited and an introduction was written by his wife Barbara Hunt for publication by Outcrop, The Northern Publishers, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories in 1983.
