Fonds consists of two parish registers of St. Mary's Church (Roman Catholic), Dawson City, Yukon, 1898-1909 and 1909-1956. The registers contain records of baptisms, marriages and burials; records of confirmations; and first communions; accounts of the funerals of the church's founder, Father Judge, 20 January 1899, and benefactor, Sir Alexander McDonald; 1 February 1909, as well as the signatures of numerous witnesses and some account of the careers of the two men; an item relating to the late registration, 31 July 1922, of the marriage, 5 July 1920, of Patrick Kennedy and Anna Pingitzer of Carcross. This material is located on microfilm reel M-906.

St. Mary's Church (Dawson City, Yukon : Roman Catholic) : St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Dawson City was ecclesiastically erected in 1898. It was founded, together with St. Mary's Hospital, to minister to the miners who came to the area in the Klondike gold rush. Its first pastor was "the Saint of Dawson," the Reverend William H. Judge, S.J. (ca. 1850-1899), an American Jesuit from Baltimore, Maryland, who had spent 12 years as a missionary in Alaska.

The first church was destroyed by fire almost as soon as it was completed, but Father Judge was enabled to rebuild it immediately, thanks to the contributions of the whole community, including the protestants, and to the donation of $25,000 made by Big Alex McDonald (ca. 1850-1909), a Scottish catholic from Ashdale in Antigonish, N.S., popularly known as the "King of the Klondike", whom Pope Leo XIII made a Knight of St. Gregory.
