Fonds consists of Patient files, 1925-1996; Personal files including curriculum vitae, lists of publications, correspondence and subject files relating to family and personal matters and draft autobiography, 1915-1998; British Institutions including case histories, correspondence, research material, lecture notes, etc. from Maudsley, Cassel and St. Dunstan's hospitals, as well as British Psychoanalytic Society and Institute of Psychiatry, 1931-1997; Canadian Institutions relating to McGill University Psychoanalysis Training Clinic, Montreal General Hospital, Montreal Children's Hospital, Canadian Psychoanalytic Society and Canadian Institute of Psychoanalysis, 1953-1984; International Institutions, 1936-1996; Papers, lectures and research material, 1919-1995 and Professional correspondence, 1929-1997.

The fonds also contains group photographs taken at medical conferences, banquets, and a portrait of Dr. W. Clifford M. Scott, [ca. 1930-1975]. The photo material consists of negatives of drawings study analysis, relationship of psychiatry, psychotherapy to psychoanalysis taken in 1937-1938, and of graphic glass plates of statistics on various treatments between 1900-1955 produced by Montreal Neurologic Institute Photo. Portraits include David Slight, Edward Podvoll, Robert Cleghorn, William Wood, Dr. Clifford Scott, Henry Rey (1989), Maxwell Jones, Monique Meloche (1977), Wilfred Bion, Dr. Hyman Caplan and Douglas Gordon Campbell (1903-1983).

Scott, W. Clifford M., 1903-1997 : Dr. William Clifford Munroe Scott was born on 11 March 1903 in Metz, Ontario. He trained in psychiatry in the United States at Manhatten State, Johns Hopkins, Boston Pyschopathic Hospital, Harvard University and in England at the National Hospital and the Institute of Psychoanalysis. Scott practiced extensively in England and treated many military cases during World War II. In 1954, he returned to Canada to train students at McGill University in psychoanalysis. He was a founding member of the Canadian Institute of Psychoanalysis and was very involved in its parent body, the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society. Dr. Scott published over eighty articles and had an international reputation in his field. Dr. Scott died on 19 January 1997 in Montreal.
