Recherche dans la collection - William Upcott collection [textual record, cartographic material]

After the death of Solomon Dayrolles in 1786, his library was sold and his own official correspondence and that of his uncle, James Dayrolles, eventually found their way into the hands of William Upcott. After Upcott's death in 1845, a large part of his collection was purchased, in 1846, by the British Library, and the Dayrolles papers in it were catalogued as Additional Manuscripts 15866-15890. Add. MSS. 15915, which contains copies and translations of letters and papers of state, 1685-1764, was probably also part of the Dayrolles papers, and additional Dayrolles material is found in other parts of the Upcott collection, such as Add. MSS. 15946, which is a collection of original letters and autographs, chiefly official, of various English statesmen, 1702-1778. In 1931, a number of selections of Canadian interest were transcribed from the Dayrolles papers by the National Archives of Canada.
