The collection also contains photographs taken during trips by Tim Buck to Indonesia, Mongolia, Australia, Hungary, Lithuania, Estonia, the Soviet Union, China, and Vietnam; as well as photographs taken during his career; Tim Buck and colleagues at his 80th birthday; family members; and the funeral of Matthew Schatulsky, [ca. 1910-1970].Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Buck, Tim, 1891-1973 : Tim Buck, born at Suffolk, England, apprenticed as a machinist. He immigrated to Canada in 1910. A fine speaker and organizer, in 1921 he helped to establish the Communist Party of Canada, which he led from 1929 to 1962 as general-secretary. From 1963 until his death Buck was National Chairman of the Communist party of Canada. He died in Mexico on March 11.
