Fonds consists of "Regimental History of the 12th Manitoba Dragoons", minute books and two Regimental newspapers of 1945. The minutes cover the years 1931-1946, the History describes the years 1885-1946 and the two newspapers are from 1945. Major Mackenzie appended to the History a number of additions from his memory and personal diary.

Canada. Canadian Army. Manitoba Dragoons (18th Armoured Regiment), XII : The 12th Manitoba Dragoons were organized in 1903 from existing squadrons. During World War I, this Reave Regiment provided the personnel for the 6th and the 32nd Battalions, C.E.F. In 1935, the Regiment was amalgamated with The Border Horser, the new composite regiment bearing the name the 12th Manitoba Dragoons.

During World War II, this reserve unit trained recruits for the Active Army. The active arms of the Dragoons were the 18th Armoured Car Regiment and the 12th Manitoba Dragoons Overseas.

After the Regiment was named in 1949, the 12th Manitoba Dragoons (18th Armoured Car Regiment), in 1954 the 12th Manitoba Dragoons (18th Armoured Regiment) and in 1958 the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. In 1965, the Regiment was placed on the Supplementary Order of Battle.
