Fonds consists of correspondence including a letter from John Willison to Duncan Campbell Scott; a letter from the ninth Duke of Argyll thanking Scott for pictures of members of the Royal Society of Canada; nominal and subject files, containing correspondence, manuscripts and clippings relating to Scott's writings, other Canadian authors, poets and artists, English poets, to Scott's daughter, Elizabeth and her death as well as Scott's own death. Microfilmed material is located on microfilm reels M-5473 and M-5474.

Fonds consists of medallic material: a bronze medal to commemorate the Civic Library Inauguration of Chateau de Ramezay, Montreal, 1896; a 50th Anniversary Plaque of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, 1920; one medal awarded to the Canadian Government, Department of Indian Affairs, by the Chicago World's Columbian Exposition of 1892-1893.

Scott, Duncan Campbell, 1862-1947 : Duncan Campbell Scott (born at Ottawa, 2 August 1862; died 19 December 1947) was first employed as an Extra Clerk in the office of the Indian Commissioner from December 1879 to March 1880, and then served briefly in the Department of the Interior. He was appointed to a permanent position in the Civil Service by Order in Council, effective 8 October 1880. He served as a Clerk in the Accounts Branch of the Department of Indian Affairs, rising to the position of Chief Clerk in 1893. He was appointed Secretary of the Department in 1896 and classified Chief Accountant in 1908. The following year, the position of Superintendent of Indian Education was added to his responsibilities. In October 1913 he was appointed Deputy Superintendent General of Indian Affairs, a post he held until his superannuation in 1932.

Scott was, at various times, a governor of the Dominion Drama Festival and the Canadian Writer's Foundation, a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature of Great Britain, and president of the Canadian Author's Association, the Ottawa Drama League, and the Royal Society of Canada.

Textual material received from various sources between 1969 and 1980. Medallic items received from Mrs. Duncan Campbell in 1948.
The original manuscripts, from which the microfilms were made, were acquired by the Literary Manuscripts Section of the National Library of Canada in 1993.
