Collection consists of a royal order to the Earl of Bellamont, Governor-in-Chief of Massachusetts Bay, New York and New Hampshire, for the erection of forts and the defence of New York, 19 January 1700-1701, (photocopy, 4 pages); draft of a memorial from the Assembly of Massachusetts to Queen Anne, recommending that steps be taken to drive the French from Acadia, 1704, (photocopy, 6 pages); draft of an address of welcome from the City of Williamsburg, Va., to Governor Robert Dinwiddie and of two resolutions expressing the willingness of the Virginians to give assistance in any expedition against the French and requesting the removal to England of Acadians, [1751, 1756] (3 pages); letter from Thomas Pownall, Governor of New Jersey, to the Earl of Halifax, 10 September 1757 (2 pages); and a secret dispatch from William Pitt to Governor William Lyttleton of South Carolina, directing him to give assistance to General Amherst and Admiral Boscawen in the attack on Fort Alabama, 7 March 1758 (3 pages).
