Hitchman, Fred Lionel, 1901-1968 : Fred Lionel Hitchman, hockey player, was born on 3 November, 1901 at Toronto, Ontario, and began his career with the Wychwood Juveniles of the Toronto Hockey League, 1917-1918. Subsequently, he played for the Toronto Aura Lee of the O.H.A., the R.C.M.P. squad of the Civil Service League, and the New Edinburgh team in the Ottawa City League before being signed by T.P. Gorman to play for the Ottawa Senators of the N.H.L., in 1922. In 1925, he was purchased by the new Boston franchise which he captained, 1929-1931. Upon his retirement, in 1934, he became manager of the Boston Bruin Cubs. He died at Glen Falls, N.Y., on 8 December, 1968.
