Fonds consists of a letterbook, 1798-1800, 1802, 193 pages; an agreement of the North West Company members binding themselves to observe the agreement entered into 28 January 1811 with the American Fur Company, signed at Fort William, 15 July 1811, 2 pages; and a minute book containing resolutions setting up company regulations and admitting new partners, deeds of assignment, and agreements with the Michilimackinac Company, 1806, and the American Fur Company, 1811, along with a partial table of contents, 1801-1811, 84 pages.

North West Company : The North West Company originated with the partnerships of a number of Montreal merchants. In 1821 its long rivalry with the Hudson's Bay Company ended through its union with that body. Some records were transferred to the Hudson's Bay Company while others fell into private hands; the Burton Historical Collection and other repositories have acquired some of these records.

Custodial history:

The letterbook was received in 1938 and the Agreement was received in 1934.

Location of originals note:

The minute book was copied in 1921 from the original held by Pierre-Georges Roy of Québec.
