Admiralty 155 consists of only one volume. This volume, now known as ADM 155, IND. 24475, is a contemporary subject index prepared to the records of the Pacific Station as they were bound in Victoria. This material is located on micofilm reel B-20.

The records indexed by ADM 155, IND. 24475 are in Record Group 8, III B A, volumes 1-22. When using IND. 24475, please note that the volume references are all to the original volume numbers stamped on the spine, and not to the National Archives shelf numbers. The entries are alphabetical only as far as the first letter. The procedure followed was to enter all the "A's" for one year under the "A's" of the previous year, etc. Because the National Archives holds the original records it is necessary to note only the volume and page number when checking a subject in IND. 24475.

Textual records (Papier) Approximately one third of the original records of the station in the National Archives remain without a finding aid. The National Archives of Canada's microfilm and photostat copies of the records deposited in British Columbia are served by Finding Aid 762. For further information on Pacific station records see the inventory entry for Record Group 8, III, B. (90: Ouvert)

Historique de la conservation :

Early in the twentieth century the index accompanied the records of the station to the Admiralty in London but remained there when 39 volumes of the records of the Pacific Station were placed on deposit in the National Archives of Canada in 1923 and when 5 volumes were sent on permanent loan to the government of British Columbia by the Admiralty in 1937. The bulk of the records of the station remain in Ottawa and Victoria, with this one index volume and 4 miscellaneous volumes (ADM 172) now in the Public Record Office, London.
