Fonds consists of the following series of textual records: Briefs, National Office files, and printed material, 1977-1980. Fonds also includes two series of documentation on People's Food Commission hearings and promotional presentations: photographs, 1977-1980, and sound recordings, 1977-1978.

People's Food Commission : In the summer of 1977 a group of people met to prepare a response to the newly developed Federal Food Strategy for Canada. They later formed the People's Food Commission to conduct a cross-country inquiry into the food system and to develop a People's Food Policy. Funding for the commission was sought from non-government sources such as the United Church, the Bronfman Foundation, unions and associations and private donations. Hearings were held during 1978 and 1979 from Victoria, B.C. to Nairn, Labrador to provide a forum for people to voice their concerns.

In 1980 with the publication of "The Land of Milk and Money", the People's Food Commission completed its work and disbanded.
