Henry George School of Social Science : The Henry George Schools of Social Science were supported by the Henry George Foundation in New York. Their aim was to foster the teachings of Henry George, concerning the single tax on land value and his belief that the wages of labour were created by the labour not capital. The papers largely concern the Ottawa Study Group, whose secretary was Herbert G. Barber, and the Montreal school courses, conferences and pamphlets. The Canadian schools had close ties to the Liberal Party and were supported financially by such men as Senator A.W. Roebuck.
