Fonds consists of microfilm copies of 35 maps prepared for or by E.B. Frost Productions Ltd., for fire insurance purposes, and microfilm copies of 11 architectural drawings of company offices, 1884-1939.

Fonds also consists of textual material consisting of a contemporary copy of a signed agreement by E.B. Eddy Company and J. Ahearn agent of the Bell Telephone Co. of Canada, 1883 to have phones installed. Originals, 2 pages.

Also included in fonds is the film The quality of a nation and it's French language version, Vers notre deuxieme siecle as well as an incomplete copy of the film Home of the buffalo.

Graphic material consists of an E.B. Eddy Forest Products Ltd. 1989 calendar.

Biography/Administrative history:

E.B. Eddy Company : The E.B. Eddy Company was founded in 1854 by Ezra Butler Eddy in Hull, Quebec as a match manufacturer. In 1856 Eddy expanded into the production of woodenware and in 1858 he started lumbering. By the 1870s he had has own timber lots and sawmills. In the 1890s Eddy moved into pulp and paper manufacturing, building his first paper mill at Hull in 1892.

The company changed its name in 1976 to E.B. Eddy Forest Products Ltd. The company is currently owned by Domtar and is headquartered in Ottawa with paper mills in Canada and the United States.

Custodial history:

The films The quality of a nation = Vers notre deuxieme siecle were part of the Canadian Film Institute's (CFI) transfer to the National Archives on May 12, 1975. The CFI received the material from the E.B. Eddy Company in 1968. The film Home of the buffalo was found on Eddy Street, in front of the company's gate. The textual material was received from the E.B. Eddy Company on June 26, 1936. Microfilm material was transferred from the E.B. Eddy Company in February 1975. An agreement was not reached with the company and the records were microfilmed and returned in 1979.
