The fonds consists of the original wartime diaries, 1916-1919, with later typescript narratives and notes by William Woods, a veteran of World War I. In these notes, Woods is critical of his many perceived inaccuracies in documenting World War I battles and history.

Woods, William B., b. 1897 : William B. Woods, soldier, was born in February 1897 and attended school at Brantford, Ontario. He enlisted in February 1916 with the 125th Infantry Battalion. On arriving in France, he was drafted into the 1st Battalion, C.E.F. He served with that Battalion from October 1916 through April 1919, when he was discharged at London, Ontario. Following the war, he worked as a clerk on the railway. In 1992, he was part of a veterans' contingent to travel to Vimy Ridge to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Battle.
