Fonds consists of correspondence, reports and speeches relating to the Canadian and International Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs; Equal Pay for Equal Work; native women's rights; Oleomargarine; and other subjects.

The fonds also contains photographs depicting Margaret Hyndman and Governor General Roland Michener when she received the Order of Canada, 19 June 1973; and Margaret Hyndman in gowns taken in London, England during the 1940's.

Fonds also contains a film entitled Britannia is a Woman : Women's Voluntary Service for Civil Defence, [ca. 1941], illustrating the work done by the Women's Voluntary Service in the United Kingdom during the early stages of World War II.

Hyndman, Margaret, 1902-1991 : Margaret Hyndman, lawyer, was born in Palmerston, Ontario. She received her legal training at Osgoode Hall in Toronto and was admitted to the bar of Ontario in 1926. In 1938, she became the second woman in the British Empire to be created King's Counsel. Specializing in corporation law she assisted F.W. Wegenast, K.C. in writing a text book, "Canadian Companies" published in 1931. Miss Hyndman was very active in many organizations. She was President of the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, as well as the International Federation. She was a director of the C.B.C.; the first woman to be appointed Director of a trust company in Canada (London and Western Trust Co.); and a member of the National Council and Executive Committee of the C.N.I.B. Her services to the Free French Movement during World War II, were recognized by the award of a citation by Charles de Gaulle. In July 1959, she was presented with the silver medal of the City of Paris.

Although most of her legal work involved corporate law, she was also involved in cases supporting equal pay for equal work; rights for native women; and the sale of margarine.
