Series consists of "Murray's Journals", a copy of the official campaign journal and related documents, apparently compiled by or for William Paxton of the 47th Regiment. The texts are "A Short Account of the Expedition against Quebec", 8 April-18 September 1757 (pages 1-47), attributed to Patrick Mackellar, chief engineer; Murray's journals for 18 September 1759-17 September 1760 (pages 48-170); the Articles of Capitulation at Montreal, 8 September 1760 (pages 171-196) and an address said to have been delivered by James Wolfe on the Plains of Abraham (pages 197-198).

General note:

The original volume is in the vault; a photocopy is available for research use. Arthur G. Doughty published the texts from pages 119-170 and 197-198 in An Historical Journal of the Campaigns in North America... by Captain John Knox (Toronto: Champlain Society, 1916), volume III, pages 306-336.

Contemporary copies of James Murray's official campaign journal for 18 September 1759-17 May 1760 are found in the Northcliffe Collection (MG 18, M, series 2, volume XV), in Colonial Office 5 (MG 11, CO 5/64. pages 53-130), and in Colonial Office 325, volume 1. Murray's despatches indicate that copies of his journals for May-September 1760 were also forwarded to his superiors.
