Series consists of a deed of sale to Sir John Johnson of lands at Smithstowne, Meath, Ireland, 1770; an appointment of Sir John Johnson as superintendent of Loyalists for a further year, 1778, 1 page, and warrant for the payment by Sir John Johnson of the expenses for relief of Loyalists of Burgoyne's army and other refugees, 1778, 1 page; and a letter of Sir Frederick Haldimand to Sir John, 1784, 3 pages, and from John Graves Simcoe, 1792, 1 page.

Series also consists of a letter of James Green to Sir John Johnson, 1799, 4 pages; a letter of Sir John Johnson to his son John, regarding financial and business matters, 1822, 4 pages; a letter of Sir John Johnson to his son John, 1827, 3 pages; and a letter of Hugh Hagan to Lt.-Col. John Johnson, 1827, 3 pages.

Also one portrait miniature of Sir John Johnson (1741-1830), eldest son of Sir William Johnson.

General note:

Certified copy of deed of sale obtained in 1927 from the Registry of Deeds, Ireland. Appointment of Sir John Johnson and warrant received in 1957 (formerly part of the J.G. Bell and Sir Thomas Phillipps collections). Letter of Sir Frederick Haldi and to Sir John, 1784, and from John Graves Simcoe, 1792, received in 1956.
Letter of James Green to Sir John Johnson, 1799, transferred from the Miscellaneous Documents collection, 14/16. Letter of Sir John Johnson to his son John, received in 1978 from Jack Richardson of Ottawa, Ont. Letter of Hugh Hagan to Lt.-Col. John Johnson, 1827, received in 1970.
List of letters written by Sir John Johnson, 1803-1826 are now found in Indian Affairs records, RG 10, repared by George E. Timson, typescript, 1937, 10 pages.
