Series consists of correspondence, accounts, land records and other papers relating to DesBarres' surveys, estates and public career, as well as family affairs, 1762-1894. The papers are arranged topically, as may be seen from the finding aid description, and include papers of Augustus Wallet DesBarres,

Series also contains documents in horizontal storage: two indentures for land in Nova Scotia. One indenture is between Richard Wright and Philip Skene, June 1773, container 29. The other indenture is between Philip Skene and J.Desbarres and J.Grant, 1775, container 30. Also included in horizontal storage is a contract of release between Joseph F.W.Desbarres and William Cawthorne, 26 June 1767, container 31, and a deed of lease of land in Nova Scotia between Richard Wright and Philip Skene, 28 June 1773, container 32.
